Smart pantry camera

Your pantry keeps its own log.

GrocerAid sits at your pantry door, logs every item that goes in or comes out, and puts what's running low on your shopping list. Standing in the store, you can check the app instead of guessing.

How it works

Set it up once, then reach in as usual.

  1. Step 1

    Put it at the door

Place GrocerAid where it can see your pantry's opening. The app walks you through joining it to your Wi‑Fi and marking where the pantry is.

  2. Step 2

    Show it your items

Pick an item in the app, then put it in and take it out while GrocerAid watches. A few reaches teach it what that item looks like in your hand.

  3. Step 3

    Reach in as usual

Each time someone reaches in, GrocerAid reads which item it was and which way it went, and logs it in the app. If it isn't sure, it asks you instead of guessing.

One line at the door

GrocerAid watches a line across your pantry's opening. A hand that crosses it holding something and comes back empty put that item in. A hand that goes in empty and comes back holding something took it out.

What it does

A pantry log that writes itself.

Every item, in or out

A running log of what went into the pantry and what came out, with the time and a picture you can check for seven days.

Asks when it isn't sure

An item it can't name shows up as a question in the app. Your answer teaches it for next time.

Learns your pantry

Teach it your own items in a minute each. Show it the things you don't track too, and it learns to tell them apart from yours.

Knows what's running low

It learns how long each item lasts in your home and shows about how much is left. Tell it when you restock and it catches up.

Writes your shopping list

An item goes on the list when it runs out, or a few days before, once GrocerAid has seen how fast you go through it. It comes off when a new pack goes in.

Your list at the store

Start shopping and your list stays on your iPhone's Lock Screen. Tick items off right there as they go in the cart.

Shared with your household

Invite up to three more people. Everyone sees the same pantry log and the same shopping list.

Tells you if it goes quiet

If GrocerAid stops checking in, the app tells you, and again once it's back.

Keeps itself up to date

Software updates install over Wi‑Fi. If one ever fails, the camera goes back to the version that worked.

Coming soon Send your shopping list straight to an online grocery cart.

Privacy

Built to forget.

A camera in your home should keep as little as it can. GrocerAid keeps only what it needs to recognize your items.

VideoDeleted as soon as it's read
GrocerAid records a few seconds when someone reaches in. Once it has read the reach, the video is deleted. A new camera keeps its recordings for up to 30 days while it learns your pantry's view.
112 pxSmall crops, not footage
To keep learning your items, it saves a small square crop of the hand and the item from each reach.
7 daysPictures expire
Each entry's picture stays for a week so you can check it or correct it. Then it's deleted.
Your householdOnly the people you invite
Your pantry is visible only to your household. Everything travels encrypted between the camera, our servers and the app, and we never sell your data.

Help with your GrocerAid

Setting it up, fixing an entry, and what to do when the camera goes quiet.

Set it up

  1. Place GrocerAid where it can see the pantry's opening, and switch it on.
  2. In the app, follow the steps to connect it. Your phone joins the camera's own network, GrocerAid-Setup, and passes it your home Wi‑Fi.
  3. Mark the opening in Profile › Camera › Set Where the Pantry Is, so it knows which way is in.
  4. Teach each item in Items › your item › Teach the Camera.

Fix a wrong entry

Tap the entry in Activity and choose what it really was. GrocerAid learns from the correction.

Swipe left to delete an entry that shouldn't be there. You have five seconds to undo.

Camera not checking in

The app tells you when GrocerAid stops checking in. Check that it has power and that your Wi‑Fi offers 2.4 GHz.

New router or password? Re-pair it from Profile › Camera › Re-pair Camera.

Questions

What does GrocerAid keep track of?

The items you teach it, each time one goes into or comes out of your pantry. It watches the opening rather than the shelves, so it reads what a hand carries in or out.

Does GrocerAid record video of my home?

Only a few seconds at a time, when someone reaches into the pantry. GrocerAid reads the recording and then deletes it, keeping a small crop of the hand and the item so it can keep learning. A new camera keeps its recordings for up to 30 days while it learns your pantry's view.

What happens when it gets an item wrong?

Tap the entry in Activity and pick the right item. GrocerAid learns from the correction. If an entry shouldn't be there at all, swipe left to delete it; you have five seconds to undo.

What if it sees something it doesn't know?

It logs an unfamiliar item and asks you what it was. You can add it as a new item right there, or tell GrocerAid it's something you don't keep track of.

How do I teach it a new item?

Add the item in the Items tab, then tap Teach the Camera. When the app asks, put the item in and take it out. It takes a few reaches.

What do I need to use GrocerAid?

An iPhone with iOS 17 or later, and 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi that reaches your pantry. Most home routers offer 2.4 GHz alongside 5 GHz.

Can my family use it too?

Yes. Invite up to three more people from the Profile tab. Everyone sees the same pantry log and shopping list.

How is my information protected?

Your pantry is visible only to your household. Data travels encrypted, we never store your password itself, and entry pictures are deleted after 7 days. The privacy policy has the details.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, open Profile › Account › Delete Account. If you're the last person in your household, the household and everything in it are deleted too.

What is the return policy?

You can return GrocerAid within 30 days of delivery for a full refund, and it has a 1-year limited warranty. See shipping and returns for the details.

When will my GrocerAid ship?

Pre-orders ship in the order they were placed, by the date shown when you order. You can cancel for a full refund at any time before yours ships, and we email you a tracking link when it's on its way.
